When we collected statistics about the overclock of Radeon HD 3870 video card, we have not given importance to their core overclock , witch in the best case reached 860 MHz. In any case each video chip has its own overclock limit, and we had no reason to believe that 55 nm chip RV670 has high overclock capability. However the overclock of Radeon HD 3870 has its nuances, as proved XtremeSystems forum participants. Yesterday, it became clear that the reference BIOS does not alter the automatic frequency divider when the system reaches 862 MHz and the graphics card Radeon HD 3870 hangs up. To correct this error we needs a modified BIOS, which can be downloaded here .  Those who managed to update the BIOS of video card Radeon HD 3870, see some improvement in the core results - they can overcome the 862 MHz barrier successfully . Now video card owners would like to raise the voltage of video chip, and progress in achieving higher clock . Note that video Radeon HD 3850 want another BIOS, and he is not yet ready.
