We already reported about the overclock of Yorkfield processor to 6.0 GHz frequency , but this last was an engineering model. Now the sales of serial Core 2 Extreme QX9650 (3.0 GHz) already begun. The use of Liquid nitrogen and unusually high voltage (2,016 V) allowed to overclock the processor up to 6058 MHz , At this frequency the processor was able to complete the test SuperPI 1M in 7.453 seconds.  For serial processor Core 2 Extreme QX9650 (3.0 GHz) this is a new overclock record .  The experiment used the motherboard Asus Maximus Formula, which was overclocked to 433 MHz on the system bus.
