Originally ACP is calculated as follows:
- Processor Opteron SE (TDP = 120 W, ACP = 105 W): 83% core power , 16% - memory controller capacity, 1% HyperTransport controller power;
- Opteron processors (TDP = 95 W, ACP = 75 W): 79% core power , 20%- memory controller capacity , 2% HyperTransport controller power;
- Processor Opteron HE (TDP = 68 W, ACP = 55 W): 74% core power ,23% - memory controller capacity , 2% controller HyperTransport power.
It was assumed that the first two processors in idle mode consume no more than 25% of the ACP capacity , Opteron HE processors consume no more than 30% of ACP capacity . The average Opteron processors per cent was equal to 101%. It seems that the share of HyperTransport controller is no more than 1% from the overall capacity.
Here is how look the TDP values of Barcelona processors at their announcement time in September this year:
Now, the new revision document referred to the higher TDP values :
Here is the power increase:
- Opteron SE: 120 W-> 137 W (+14%);
- Opteron: 95 W-> 115 W (+21%);
- Opteron HE: 68 W-> 79 W (+16%).
The reasons for such redistribution of TDP values is not entirely clear to us. CPU Phenom 9900 (2.6 GHz) TDP value will be equal to 140 W, although it will be released on new stepping B3. It is Clear, that AMD realized that the selected frequency range can not stay within the old thermal envelope.
