After raising the voltage up to 1.5 V , the Radeon HD 3870 has been able to overclock up to 1008/2670 MHz using water-cooling. The first steps towards extreme Radeon HD 3870 overclock was made by Shamino. Video chip voltage was increased to 1.75 V, it is cooled using dry ice. With minus 39 degrees Celsius temperature the Radeon HD 3870 was able to work at frequencies 1201/2556 MHz.  The Video card power system is a two-phase power supply. Perhaps the alternative version Radeon HD 3870 with three phase systems can show better overclock result .  The overclocked to 4256 MHz processor Core 2 Extreme QX9650 (3.0 GHz) allowed the graphics card Radeon HD 3870 to reach 16404 points in 3DMark'06:

| The only benchmark available is 3d2006 with 4256 QX9650 : The score was 16404 point . We will publish tomorrow a full review including the HD 3850,3870 and Nvidia 8800 GT , GTS , there will be many benchies at stock and overclocked speed . |
