The opinions of the first Phenom 9600 black Edition owners about the its overclocking potential did not have any special optimism . Associates noted that Phenom processors could not successfully overclock on the system bus more than 10%. Free multiplier in this situation could facilitate the task. After procuring processor Phenom 9600 black Edition, associates began to test its overclock capability . It was possible to reach the max bus frequency 212 MHz, Associate was unable to improve this result by increase in the processor vcore north with increase in the north bridge voltage. But with 15x multiplier and 1.5 v , this processor could overclock to 3.0 GHz with water cooling.  At this frequency all four core stably worked under load. With air cooling the max stable overclock was reduced to 2.8 GHz, this is also very good. The free multiplier can somehow compensate the modest performance level of Phenom at its default rating.
