Tweaktown  published today a detailed review  about the Geforce 9600 GT from  Galaxy production. This card was compared with higher segment video card : GeForce 8800 gt and AMD Radeon HD 3870.  Here is the Test system : * processor: Intel Core 2 quad Q6600, overclocked to 3 GHz * Motherboard : GIGABYTE X48-dq6 * Memory: 2 X 1 GB Kingston PC6400 Ddr-2 3-3-3-10 * hard disk: Seagate 250 GB, 7200 rp/min * OS: Windows xp Professional SP2, Windows vista SP1 * drivers: Catalyst 8.1, Forceware 174.11 (9600GT Win XP), Forceware 171.16 (9600GT Win Vista), Forceware 169.21 (8800GT Win XP) and Forceware 169.25 (8800GT Win Vista) . The results, obtained in the four popular test are below: The 9600 GT was faster in game then Radeon HD 3870 and loose only in  3DMark 06 test. In this case, the recommended price for the GeForce 9600 gt is only 169-189 dollars. AMD had to take the necessary steps to correct its prices. 9600 GT BENCHMARK

I call bullshit. I read other benchmarks of the 9600gt compared to the 3850 256mb and it barely won in few categories, and actually lost in others. Yes ATI did adjust their prices. So now the 3850 512 is still cheaper and better. And for 180$, you can have a 3870 that destroys the 9600gt. The 9600gt is not some new sweet tech. It is just a 8800gt chip cut in half. It is a pretty good bargain if you like Nvidia. But If I were you, I would stick with the 8800gt and pay the extra 30 40 bucks.
