Today appeared the test results of energy consumption for one system using different one chip video cards, here we have the GeForce 9800 GTX as member. In this case the energy consumption level of entire system is evaluated.
We start from the default energy consumptions values , from video cards producer :
- GeForce 8800 Ultra - > 175 W;
- GeForce 8800 GTS 512 mb - > 140 W;
- GeForce 9800 GTX - > 168 W.
Now let us pass to the energy consumption results obtained in the rest state (IDLE) :
- GeForce 8800 Ultra - > 160 W;
- GeForce 8800 GTS 512 mb - > 110 W;
- GeForce 9800 GTX - > 131 W.
In this case the GeForce 9800 GTX consumes 21 W more power than the GeForce 8800 GTS 512 mb. In comparison with GeForce 8800 Ultra the 9800 GTX has lower energy consumption by 29 W.
Under load, the GeForce 8800 Ultra just fly :
- GeForce 8800 Ultra - > 284 W;
- GeForce 8800 GTS 512 mb - > 192 W;
- GeForce 9800 GTX - > 230 W.
In this case the GeForce 9800 GTX consumes already 30 W more power than its nearest relative on base of g92 chip (8800 GTS ) .
