AMD has increased its presence in the discrete graphics card market in the first quarter this year, according to analysts Mercury Research agency. But in the first quarter volumes of graphics card sales decreased by 10.2% compared to the same period in 2015.
AMD was able to increase its share in the market of graphics cards for desktop systems by 1.8%, while the market of graphics cards for laptops by up to 7.3%. In the first quarter the share of "red" companies in these markets account for 22.7% and 38.7%, respectively. Overall, AMD holds 29.4% of the discrete graphics market. Perhaps this is due to the success of the new strategy of the company, as well as improvements in its program of support products.
Perhaps, AMD in the future will be able to gradually increase its market share by increasing sales of mid-range graphics card, video card because it is from this category most in demand. Recall that in the near future the company must submit a video to the new 14-nm GPUs Polaris.
