We have already reported that in 2017, which will be a jubilee for the iPhone, Apple will introduce a whole new generation of iPhone.
Earlier sources said that in 2017 will take place the transition from LCD to OLED.
A source familiar with Apple's plans, said that three new iPhone models will be released in 2017. In addition to the two versions with 4.7- and 5.5-inch LTPS LCD-flat screens also come with premium model, equipped with two curved OLED-display side diagonal 5.5 inches or more. Each of the three models will be dressed in a glass case with a metal frame, while their predecessors have all-metal body.
It is worth noting that Samsung Display (subsidiary of the Korean Samsung Electronics) is currently the only company that manufactures flexible OLED-displays. And that it will be the sole supplier of OLED-displays for the new premium iPhone. True, Samsung, as noted by analyst David Hsieh from IHS DisplaySearch, will not be able to fully meet the demand for curved OLED-panels. Perhaps this was the reason that the OLED-display will get only one model of the iPhone, while the two others will be satisfied with LTPS-screens.
Apple is associated with Samsung longstanding partnership, which, however, did not prevent them to spend a few years in the litigation and patent war.
