At the end of 2016, Texas Instruments ranked fifth in terms of revenues in the automotive electronics market, controlling about 7% of the segment. The last quarter for the company was quite successful, almost in all directions in the automotive segment, revenue increased by double-digit percentage, according to the referring to the quarterly report of Texas Instruments EE Times resource.
An interesting assessment of the prospects for the development of the industry is provided by representatives of Texas Instruments. According to them, now one modern car accounts for up to $ 350-400 of semiconductor products in value terms, which roughly corresponds to one percent of the retail price of the car.
Another important thing is that as the vice-president of Texas Instruments explains, in the next ten years the share of semiconductor products in the retail price of the car will reach two percent. In other words, it will simply double. Naturally, for developers of semiconductor products this is a very attractive prospect. There is nothing surprising in the fact that work in this direction is intensified by many market participants.
