AMD is actively working for the future , having already started developing those processors and graphics solutions that will appear on the market only after two, three or four years. As the developer forms his medium-term road maps, at the meeting with analysts, AMD CEO Lisa Su (Lisa Su) explained.
According to her, now AMD is conducting a dialogue with customers, asking them what they want to receive in three years or five years. In such a constructive dialogue, the success of AMD and its customers is concluded, as Liza Su believes. This is how the understanding of the needs of the industry is formed. AMD, according to its head, will not lose its fervor either in a quarter or two - it will continue to follow the planned path. At least for the next two or three years, AMD has a clear development plan. At the same time, the company is not going to "rush changes in the infrastructure," forcing it to transform prematurely. Does it hide behind this formulation, for example, the desire to preserve the compatibility of future processors with the socket AM4, we do not take it to be confirmed. At least two years of stability of the platform Lisa Su guarantees.
Lisa Su mentioned in passing the priority directions of AMD investments: x86-compatible processors, as well as discrete and integrated graphics. In the next four quarters the company intends to complete the market launch of the entire range of processors with Zen architecture of the first generation (in the consumer segment, all new products will appear later this year), including products for corporate clients. By 2018, new AMD processors will cover 80% of the PC market. This does not mean that the company's products will take such a share in the market, just the relevant proposals will appear in 80% of the segment.
