AMD Company decided to use in the new graphical solutions generation the first commercial graphics memory double data rate 5 (GDDR5). This high speed memory with large capacity, as it was expected, will become new standard, and it will allow to realize a powerful graphic processor (GPU).  AMD Company collaborates with memory suppliers  , including Samsung, Hynix and Qimonda in order to derive GDDR5 on the market. Up-to-date GPU already has some limitations on the memory subsystem  , connected with the interface capacity and chip dimensions  . New memory is characterized by higher data exchange speed  . According to AMD evaluation , GDDR5 will allow to transmit data with 12,8 Gbit/s, GDDR4 : 3,2 Gbit/s, GDDR3 : 2,4 Gbit/s, The superiority of GDDR5 over GDDR3 reaches five times and four time above GDDR4  . This will allow to transmit more data on a smaller system bus , and it will lead to performance increase of graphic systems as a whole.  AMD Specialists together with the JEDEC organization worked at the creation of new technology and also in the determination of GDDR5 specifications .
