There is already a fair amount of rumors around the hybrid processors AMD fusion . Some assumed that fusion processors will use a multi-chip packaging, and the production of their graphic part will be released by companies like TSMC or Chartered semiconductor. Later AMD refuted these assumptions, after stating about the monolithic layout. The first fusion processors (code name swift) will be released on 45 nm technology with SOI. Their announcement is planned for the second-half of 2009.
In an interview with Mr. Rick Bergmann, who heads AMD subdivision on the release of graphic products, described about the company plans in regard to the first generation hybrid processors fusion. The first processors will be released on AMD factories ( Dresden, Germany ).
Since the first fusion processors will be released on SOI technology , AMD company will adapt their graphic part correspondingly - now all video chips AMD are released on CMOS- technology.
