The expected video accelerators for the mass and high-end market segment from NVIDIA and AMD companies are very different in essence but their required power is approximately identical . Besides the memory capacity ( 512 MB) for the video card GeForce 9800 GT and Radeon 4850 , the general properties will be the large energy consumption and increased requirements for heat removal systems . Both cards will be completed by two 6 pin power connector PEG (PCI express graphics), which supply 75 W energy each, which in ensures to this adapter up to 150 W. The maximum (theoretical) consumption for geForce 9800 GT and Radeon HD 4850 is 225 W. Remained necessary 75 W are ensured by the PCI express slot . According to some data, the radeon HD 4850 and HD 4870 cards consume 110 and 160 W of energy (with nominal operating frequencies) . For comparison, the GeForce GTX 260, competitor of HD 4870 , consumes ~182 W of energy. | ||
