The released officially yesterday GT200 Video chip , presented two video cards: GeForce GTX 280 and GeForce GTX 260. Those cards are characterized not only by characteristics, but also by the recommended prices level  . The recommended price for the GeForce GTX 260 is $399, while the cost Of geForce GTX 280 remained at the previous level - $649. Here are the characteristics of the GeForce GTX 280  : Frequencies 602/1296/2214 MHz; 240 stream processors; 80 textural units, 32 units rops; 1 Gb GDDR3 memory with access time 0.8 ns; 512- bit memory system bus  ; Support PCI express 2.0 and 3- way SLI; Support directX 10.0, shader model 4.0; Energy consumption level  236 W; Additional power connector configuration  8 + 8 pins; Recommended price $649. In both cases the GT200 chip is produced on 65 nm technology and contains about 1,4 billion transistors. Here are the Characteristics of  geForce GTX 260 video card : Frequencies 576/1242/1998 MHz; 192 stream processors; 64 textural units, 28 units rops; 896 mb GDDR-3 memory with 0.8 ns access time ; 448- bit memory system bus  ; Support PCI express 2.0 and 3- way SLI; Support directX 10.0, shader model 4.0; Energy consumption level  182 W; Additional power connector configuration 6 + 6 pins; Recommended price $399. The release of GT200 was also followed by the adaptation of CUDA . In this plan CUDA support will be added in all NVIDIA video cards , beginning from GeForce 8800 GT. We already reported about CUDA tasks: physical effects in games, image processing in Photoshop, video clips re-encoding  , participation in folding@Home calculations program  . Answering to the teraflops (radeon HD 4850),  NVIDIA company presented two new tesla cards  . One made on base Of geForce GTX 280 with shader domain frequency equal to 1333 MHz and 4 Gb GDDR3 memory : Tesla c1060 - its performance is measured by one teraflops. But if we speak about the consumer qualities of GT200 video card  , then the special progress is noticeable in the energy-economy. In the idle mode the chip frequency is reduced to 100 MHz, and the energy consumption  level of the entire video card will be reduced  to 25 W. Finally, hybrid power technology in the motherboard with the integrated graphic core NVIDIA allow to completely disconnect the video card. Under load the geForce GTX 280 is also characterized by acceptable energy requirement. Cooling system is well balanced . The geForce GTX 280 overclock in air to 750-760 MHz . Memory in individual cases is overclocked to 2500-2600 MHz DDR this is also good. The GeForce GTX 280 is usually faster than the GTX 260 by  15-20% (price difference between the card is 38%(250$)) , so GTX 260 has a better price/ performance ratio) .Furthermore, the GeForce GTX 260 excellently scales productivity in SLI mode .
