Following model HD 4850 Sonic, palit microsystems released one additional card on radeon HD 4850 (GPU) : HD 4850 1GB sonic. Its basic special feature is the memory capacity increased to 1 GB. Like the HD 4850 Sonic, the new card works at high frequencies: the core frequency is equal to 685 MHz, memories : 2000 MHz.

The increase in frequencies is achieved due to the nonstandard cooling system and the power control system.

The cooling system in palit HD 4850 1GB sonic includes fan , thermal tubes and radiator with copper base . As asserts the producer , with the aid of this cooling system , they succeeds in reducing the GPU temperature in comparison with the regular system, by up to 20 c. in this case the noise level is even lower than the regular system, by up to 10dB.

This card is equipped with one additional eighth pin power connector , which enlarges the upper limit of required power to 150 W. This allow a stable work of components at high frequencies.
