The official announcement of 45 nm server processors AMD forced motherboard producers to release motherboard for the 45 nm processors phenom II X4, known earlier under the code name deneb. As we explained today, these processors will be presented in 8 January 2009. It is assumed that the first 45 nm processors phenom II X4 will use the socket AM2+, and only nearer to March will appear the processors socket AM3 with support to DDR3 memory .
Asus company already reported about motherboard models , which possess compatibility with the 45 nm processors deneb. A simple bios update will allow socket AM2+ motherboard to work with socket AM3 processors .
MSI Company followed the asus example , and published the list of motherboard, which support 45 nm socket AM2+ and Socket AM3 processors after a bios update .
Simultaneously MSI reports some curious information about the characteristics of 45 nm desktop processors. In MSI opinion, phenom processors after passage on 45 nm technology can rise to the clock frequencies to approximately 3.0 GHz, and the TDP level in this case must be lowered from 140 to 125 W.
