Already during May in the present year on the market will appear the first video card on base of 40 nm chip - Radeon HD 4770. It will be produced by TSMC company on 40 nm technology ( RV740 ). AMD decided to add new technical processes on video chips with average complexity in order to convert them in a new graphical solutions family. The second traditional video chip producer is UMC company. On this week stated about the beginning of deliveries for the first chips, released on 40 nm technology. Here we deal with complex and productive chips, over long terms can be used as graphical solutions. UMC is contented by the duration of technological cycle and by the release level of suitable chips, produced on 40 nm technology. In comparison with 65 nm chips the energy consumption level  was reduced up to 65%, and the transistors arrangement density  increased by more than twice. With the production of 40 nm chips , UMC used advanced technologies :  immersion lithograph and advanced dielectrics materials with the low value dielectric constant (low- k). Simultaneously with 40 nm  technology UMC company  mastered the 45 nm technology; therefore, customers can select between these two technical processes. The presence of second contract producer, who proposes 40 nm technical process, will for sure accelerate the appearance of corresponding AMD and NVIDIA video chip. Related Products :
