AMD representatives recently reported that under laboratory conditions the processor phenom II X4 955 (3.2 GHz) Black edition was overclocked to 7 GHz, although the details of experiment and proofs was not given. The previous model phenom II X4 940 (3.0 GHz) Black edition socket AM2+ was overclocked to 6.5 GHz with the use of liquid helium and a temperature of minus 240 degree Celsius.
In the last day of April in the world records data base appeared a new result, which report about the processor phenom II X4 955 Black edition overclocked to the frequency 7128 MHz with 1.95 v. for processor cooling liquid nitrogen was used.
Moreover we noted the result 7.2 GHz with high multiplier 36x and two active processor cores.
Turning off some cores is a well known method to raise the processor overclock. Once again those overclock are made in AMD laboratory , so users and even extreme overclockers can hardly repeat or even reach them . Related Products :
