AMD recommended selling the radeon HD 4770 for $109 with $10 reduction. Later the video card price was higher than $109. This fault was due to the scarcity of 40 nm RV740 chips, which are produced by TSMC company.
AMD solved the scarcity of radeon HD 4770 in two ways: both with the aid of video card radeon HD 4730 ($79) on base of RV770 chip with 128 bit memory and with the aid of reduction in radeon HD 4850 prices. All these transpositions affected the price of the radeon HD 4770. As they became known, AMD company recommended to its partners raising the retail cost of radeon HD 4770 by $10. This is one of those rare cases, when the price of video card after announcement is not reduced, but it rises. The basic reason for increase in the price of radeon HD 4770 - is the preservable scarcity of 40 nm chips RV740. Furthermore, this card somehow must differ in the price from the same Radeon HD 4850 and Radeon HD 4730. | ||
