To the official announcement of solutions on base of graphic processor RV870 remained less than two weeks. We already published the photo of Radeon HD 5870. As it was possible to note, the length of this card was not characteristic for  one chip solutions.  Thus, RV870 is produced on 40 nm technological processes, and it is actually the doubled RV770 - 1600 stream processors, 80 textures filtering blocks  and doubled according to the power rops blocks . The width of memory bus remained as before - 256 bits.  . RV870 Crystal, in this case, occupies the area of approximately 330 mm. sq., which up to 30% greater than RV770. However, the characteristics of those video cards are: Radeon HD 5870 - > $399,  support  directX 11, 20 SIMD blocks, 1600 stream processors, 80 textures filtering  units, 32 blocks  rops,  256- bit  memory, core clock frequency  - 850 MHz, GDDR5 memory clock frequency  - 1200 MHz (effective - 4800 MHz), energy consumption idle- 28 watts, load - 190 watts; Radeon HD 5850 - > $299,  support  directX 11, 18 SIMD blocks, 1440 stream processors, 72 textures filtering units , 32 blocks rops, the 256- bit memory, core clock frequency - 700 MHz, GDDR5 memory clock frequency - 1000 MHz (effective - 4000 MHz). The Radeon HD 5850 will work not only at the lower frequencies than Radeon HD 5870, but also it will be deprived from 160 stream processors, or  8 textures filtering blocks . Both video cards  will be officially presented on September 23, and elder two-chip solution, Hemlock, will be presented approximately in a month, in the second-half of October. Those cards will bring not only the support Of directX 11, but also the new  anisotropic filtration  algorithms (AF) and full smoothing (AA). Furthermore, it is reported that RV870 will support up to three monitors simultaneously. Current nVidia and AMD card  use simultaneously not more than two video outputs. This technology is called eyefinity. In the future the number of video outputs supported simultaneously can be increased to six. Related Products :
