Today appeared the benchmark result of Radeon HD 5870 in comparison with competitors:  On the first slide is evaluated the performance of radeon HD 5870 relative to the GeForce GTX 285. The superiority of new one chip card from AMD over current NVIDIA high end video card composes from 10% to 260%, on average composing the value of about 40-50%.  On the second slide, it is possible to observe the results of radeon HD 5870 vs GeForce GTX 295. As it is evident, the fight goes with variable success, but in the general test the Radeon HD 5870 win, exceeding its enemy in peak by 70-90% and losing not more than 20%. This is a good result for one chip solution.  On the third slide again the GeForce GTX 285, but this time its performance is compared with the low-end solution - Radeon HD 5850. Practically in all tests this card was faster than the GeForce GTX 285, with the peaks of up to 100% and average superiority of 20-30%. After estimating the successes Of radeon HD 5800, it is possible to pass to the results, obtained from independent sources. In the first case as competitors to the Radeon HD 5870 serve Radeon HD 4890, Radeon HD 4870 x2 and GeForce GTX 285:   As a whole, associate evaluate the superiority Of radeon HD 5870 over GeForce GTX 285 by +5% - +155%, above GeForce GTX 295 from - 25% to +95%. | If only the 5850 wasn\'t in such high demand right now. I can only find a sapphire model for $350 after tax and delivery.
Of course, the cheapest GTX 285 I can find is over $400 and uses almost double the electricity. That\'d be like another $50 after a year of electricity :P Actually, I have no idea how much it would save me in energy costs.
