We already showed, that processors Kentsfield with four core can work without problems at least in two models of existing motherboard based on a chipset i975X. Meanwhile, as it traditional Intel tried to adhere support of processors class Extreme Edition to more expensive chipsets, not approving the use of this cpu with mainstream chipsets class . Intel have informed, that the final decision on compatibility Kentsfield and chipset Intel P965 still not accepted. Intel also has recognized, that there is no technical obstacles present to get it working on those chipset, the marketing reasons can force it to refuse the approval of support Kentsfield with P965 chipset . as a desktop chipset of the high-end class . Intel aproved now only one - the i975X. Chipset P965 released recently are lower price class, but offers more modern functionality. To not undermine sale of i975X, company Intel decides to limit the support of CrossFire for P965. Saying , if u wish to work with CrossFire - buy more expensive motherboard on the basis of old kind i975X. the absence of official support for Kentsfield intel cpu with p965 is predicted.. Even in 2007 Intel does not plan to represent a new class chipset of high-end chopset. Some motherboard will be simply optimized to work with Kentsfield but this measure and is not obligatory. It is curious, that Gigabyte company already has declared the support of Kentsfield for one of their motherboard based on Intel P965 chipset .
