ATI already said that the passage to
0.08 m technical process for many chips is
planned on September of this
year. Meanwhile it did not said, on what
technology process will be built the R600 videochip , which ensures
support for DirectX 10 and which possesses the standardized shadow
architecture. The fact is that the tentative of release
R600 chip will be allowed in the more progressive
0.065 m to technical process . Especially because the level of
the heat emission of this chip promised it was serious, and with 0.065 m
technical process it could be decreased.
Associates reported that chip R600 will be released on 0.08 m to the technical process, which should happen
in the autumn of this year. . ATI company TSMC is ready for transfer to 0.065 m
technical process, but aware to use such technically complex microcircuits
with new technical process. ATI also does not
want to risk; therefore R600 will be used in technical process checked at the
moment of the announcement of this chip 0.08 m. Debut R600 can
took place even in this year, in the end of December.
However, the supporting DirectX 10 operating system Windows
vista will appeare not earlier than the first quarter of
2007, so thats hurried R600 announcement make no sense.
Approximately during October 2006 ATI will release the
successor R580 under the code name R580+. known that this chip will support memory of the type Gddr-4, and here opinions about the belonging of this chip with
the specific technical process were divided. The part of the
sources considers that it will be released on 0.08 m to technical
process, another are inclined to the more conservative 0.09 m
technical process. Truth for sure it will succeed it established
