The motherboard Intel D975XBX has good reputation in
term of overclockability due to it s compatability with Conroe processors
. The most interesting, that the motherboard allowed different
modifications to get good overclock from conroe processor -
usually intel motherboard lack from such future.
in the fourth quarter of this year Intel will release the
D975XBX2 motherboard, which has certain optimization dedicated for four core cpu known as intel Kentsfield processors , . the new optimized motherboard will allow better overclocking for such processor plus higher fsb capability
.
Associates published from Intel motherboard road map about the release of
the motherboard with high end class chipset. This segment of market
will be made as a reponse to ATI and nVidia, which already began
preparing chipset with Kentsfield support in addition of CrossFire and SLI technologies .

As you see, the chipset i975X will be remplaced with more advanced chipset Intel D975XBX2. there should be some additional special
features from the predecessor chipset and the mysterious
optimization "in FSB " under Kentsfield processor.
It would like to note that chipset ATI and nVidia
oriented on Kentsfield support can work with 1333 MHz fsb. Judging by everything, in 2007
Intel will release processors with 1333 MHz fsb, and
Kentsfield completely can become the first of them. Then the
appearance of the new motherboard Intel D975XBX2 is explained simply - with the added 1333 MHz bus support.
Formally chipset i975X can supported not only CrossFire, but
also SLI, and even Quad SLI. In two last cases the problem
consists only in the limitations, of drivers.
