The problems with conroe processor overclocking is mainly based in motherboard bus capability . On the market there is only few motherboards, which allow stablity with high fsb frequency I am talking about 400 MHz and above.additional cooling in the northbridge could help in some case. motherboards on the base of chipset Intel P965 did not show any special progress . after comparison of several motherboards with Conroe support , three of them was based on chipset Intel P965. , none of them was capable to get the 400 MHz fsb range, the leader in overclock still the Asus P5w-dh Deluxe - motherboard on base of chipset i975X. However, we had already talked in our news section about the gigabyte motherboatf - it s allowed the processor Core 2 extreme X6800 to get the 466 MHz fsb with the multiplier value of 6x without increasing the vcore. In other word, some motherboard after bios update start showing some progress. In this situation some hopes for improvement for conroe motherboard by the promising new chipset from ATI and nVidia. In particular, chipset RD600 from ATI witch propose the possibility of an asynchronous work in frequencies between the fsb and memory, and also the support 1333 MHz system bus. ATI promises, that their motherboard based chipset will get the - 400-500 MHz as minimum . Associates from the British site The Inquirer are also assured that chipset RD600 will propose a good overclocking potential. They are sure that in this RD600 ati could use the i975X chipset from Intel. .
