The urgency of DirectX 10  support to maintain the compatibility with advanced interface Aero of Windows Vista operational system  should force Intel to provide corresponding functionality to the integrated chipset G965. Its announcement took place yesterday while it guarantees compatibility with DirectX 9.0c, support DirectX 10 will be added later - it will be entered by an updated driver. To hurry up there is no place - Windows Vista will start in the first quarter 2007. Simultaneously with Intel G965 there is  two more integrated chipsets: Q965 and Q963. As the new design system  does not give representation about functionalities of chipsets, interested persons can understand all from the diagram below ... ... Or using the comparative table: take a look to the  differences of the graphic subsystem of each chipset, and then to compare them in general functionality. So, in a basis of  graphic subsystem of chipsets  G965, Q96x and i946Gx core GMA 3000 which depending on the chipsets class   receives  or loses the certain functions. For example, G965 can  support DirectX 9.0c, DirectX 10 and OpenGL 1.5. Opportunities of the graphic subsystem of chipsets Q96x and i946GZ in this sense are limited: they support only DirectX 9.0c  Pixel Shader 3.0, Vertex Shader 2.0 and Vertex Shader 3.0. These chipsets support only OpenGL 1.4. By the way, chipset G965 supports interface HDMI and possesses opportunities of improvement of the videoimage (Clear Video Technology). Other two chipsets  are deprived from such fonction. If to speak directly about functionalities of those chipsets they are  are similar, reminding functionalities of chipset Intel P965. here is the list:     * Support  processors Intel with bus  frequency of 533/800/1066 MHz;     * Support  processors Intel Core 2 Duo, Pentium D and any processors with support Hyper-Threading;     * Support up to 8 gigabyte operative memory in 4 slots DIMM;     * Support  two-channel memory of type DDR2-533, DDR2-667 and DDR2-800 (Q963 supports only DDR2--533/667);     * Support external slot PCI Express x16 (except for Q963);     * Up to six ñëîòîâ PCI Express x1;     * Up to six slots PCI;     * Integrated gigabyte  network controller;     * the Integrated sound controller of class HDA;     * Six ports SATA-300 and eSATA;     * Support RAID 0, 1, 5, 10;     * Support  function Quiet System Technology - dynamic management of speed of rotation of fans;     * Up to ten ports USB 2.0 + capability of separate switching-off of each port. Q965  is ready to give to system administrators of  opportunity to remove service from computers " technology AMT ". Chipsets Q965 and Q963 allow to work with variegated modules of memory (Flex Memory Technology). They are included in structure of the stable platform Stable Image Platform guaranteeing an invariance of components during 12-18 months.
