Processors Intel Pentium D 9xx appeared in sale so long ago, we had the low-end processors- Intel Pentium D 930 to test However, at the moment those processor appeared in large party oem- in local shop, the overclocking result has been improved with stepping update. we had picked four processors - one Box and three oem..
On the reverse side of the processor packing the cooler can be seen.
This is the most usual aluminum cooler with the copper base.

By the way, the processor was a SL94R and here is the characteristics .
Box and oem- processors was completely identical, . They are based on core Presler of stepping B1, their regular vcore of 1.288 v, according to the data RM Clock Utility 2.1. Furthermore, processor was assembled in Costa Rica, and oem- processors in Malaysia.
processors testing was in open case with the following configuration:
motherboard- Asus P5LD2 Deluxe, rev. 1.02, bios 0506;
Power unit - Sunbeamtech Nuuo Sunnu550-euap (550W);
Operating system - WinXP SP2.
The memory working frequency would not prevent the processors overclocking. The absence of troteling was checked using utility RM Clock Utility 2.1 .
The preliminary check of the operational processors stability passed with the calculation of 4-8 mb. by using Super Pi utility .
we the first processor we was able get only 250 MHz FSB . Not far from it the second oem- processors, was passed test at the frequency of 255 MHz fsb. Then the results, shown by two left processors, proved to be noticeably better and was close to: 270 and 275 MHz.
the best processors Intel Pentium D 930 actually was capable to stably operate at frequency of 275 MHz, when we checked using the utility S&.M, which was propose to very strong loads in the processor. the total final result gotten was - 265 MHz with default vcore,
Almost 4 GHz with the default vcore - this is a good result for dual processor, processor Intel Pentium D 930 on 65 nm core Presler is very favorably related to vcore. To each increase in Vcore it corresponded by an increase in the frequency of stable work. As a result processor was capable of the frequency of 290 MHz with vcore 1.45 v.
This is was good result, especially for the dual core processor, this is not "screen shot of death", processor Intel Pentium D was capable to do all work under these conditions,.
You know when a dual core processor work at the frequency of 4.43 GHz with vcore 1.5 v, this would result in ton of heat even mouse and keyboard will heat
:-) no I am just kidding .but surrely mofest and transistor and all motherboard component was simply stressed the cpu fan was working aat the maximun speed, and noise start coming from the power supplay to prove the high power requrement issue
With the use of instrument called Extech Power Analyzer 380803, we measured the energy consumption of system coupled with D 930 with different frequencies and under 100% stresses - from S&.M. Results are showin in this table.

The graph show the dependence of power consumption in order of vcore and frequency increase.
The energy consumption of system it is dependent also on the temperature. During the day, when the measurements of power were calculated, room temperature was comfortable and the required power was lower by 4-7 W . Furthermore, much it is dependent on the composition of system. The replacement of the generic default air cooler by a water cooling system added immediately 20 W! Difference arose because of the addition of pump and two slow fans 80 mm
Is now understandable, why the overclocking of processor Intel Pentium D 930 to 4.43 GHz reached is completely real, it cost 338 W - this very much, during the tests of AMD Athlon 64 3800+ to 2.85 GHz it did not go over 200 W,
Thus, our checking showed, that processors Intel Pentium D 930 can be very well overclocked. For the successful overclocking it is required to get a powerful power unit, motherboard, capable to handle such stress and by highly effective processor cooling system asembling those 3 factor u can get such results, but in our statistics of the overclocking of such processors alwais lack for 1 or more those factor . If dual core processor is already necessary, maybe u should look first in the AMD Athlon 64 x2 or Intel Core 2 duo processor first .the price will play big role for witch processor u should pick up
