ATI ypdated its high end range of graphics chips by launching at the end of August the Radeon X1950 XTX, ATI also updated its medium offer range. While waiting for the arrival of R570, tho complete with GeForce 7600 GT, the Canadian proposes already two new references: Radeon X1300 XT and Radeon X1650 Pro. With has new menu, a little more performances for a price ranging between 90 and 120 euros according to the model.
GeCube was one the very first manufacturers
able to produce cards based on these new graphics chips. It was joined later by HIS and Sapphire. The occasion for us to take stock on the characteristics and performances of these new graphics chips from medium range VS GeForce 7600 GS and 7300 GT. In premium, we will return on the very new edition Diamond Plus GeForce 7600 GT from MSI which has HDMI management .
ATI Radeon X1300 XT & X1650 Pro: specifications
As much to be very clear for the beginning, Radeon X1300 XT and X1650 Pro is not true news graphics chips strictly speaking. Indeed, Radeon X1300 XT is nothing more than one Radeon X1600 Pro whereas Radeon X1650 Pro corresponds to Radeon X1600 XT … In both cases we figure a graphics chips of series RV530 engraved in 90 Nm and has 157 million transistors. Taking again architecture of Radeon X1000, these new references are compatible DirectX 9.0c and deal with Shader Model 3.0. Provided
with 12 shader processors and 5 vertex units, both chips use the 128 bits bus. Technically identical thus, Radeon X1300 XT and X1650 Pro are characterized by their frequencies of operation. The has a VPU frequency of 500 MHz when its memory turns at 400 MHz whereas for Radeon X1650 Pro, the graphics chip operates at 600 MHz with memory functioning at 700 MHz. Compared with Radeon X1600 XT, whose processor turned to 590 MHz and memory with 690 MHz, Radeon X1650 Pro
thus offers a profit of 10 MHz to the level of frequencies: witch is not a lot
As remainder about the functionalities, the two chips have the CrossFire technology which will make possible to associate one second graphics board to benefit from increased performances. Naturally the CrossFire mode is entirely software here with an effectiveness logically less than that with high end cards . Video engine AVIVO make also part of those card and makes possible to relieve the CPU during the reading of video in MPEG 2, MPEG 4, DivX, WMV9, VC-1 and H.264.
Attention, on Radeon X1300 XT and X1650 Pro, AVIVO is not operational on HD mode. Lastly, both chips offer double Dual-Link output , to control simultaneously two screens 30 inches in extreme resolutions reaching the 2560x1600.This a table with full and principal characteristics of various chips from ATI.

GeCube Radeon X1300 XT & X1650 Pro
Well the Radeon X1300 XT or Radeon X1650 Pro, the cards are identical from their appearance, the only defference is the sticker from one model to another. with identical size, the cards adopts both red PCB while the cooling system used is similar there. in the two cases made up from a plated radiator coppers which cover at the same time the graphics chip and the memories chips, on its left end, a blade fan .
with the format PCI-Express bus 16x, the cards do not have need for additional power supply. the two cards from GeCube offer two DVI as well as a video out.
With regard to the characteristics, Radeon X1300 XT is equipped with 256 Mb memory just like Radeon X1650 Pro. Curious to know which type of chips memory was employed, we dismounted the two cards. Surprised: the two cards use memory GDDR3 Samsung certified to 1,2 NS. In light, the two cards which GeCube proposes are identical
from a strictly physical point and only the BIOS and thus the operation frequencies vary from one card to another. GeCube proposes with its X1300XTG3 a frequency of operation of 550 MHz for the graphics chip and 650 MHz for the memory. On side, Radeon X1650 Pro GeCube, X165PG3, the chip is functioning at 600 MHz, against 700 MHz for the memory. With such close characteristics, the performances of Radeon X1300 XT GeCube should be similar to those of Radeon X1650 Pro from the
same manufacturer.is any case borth product should overclock pretty similar and if u are lucky enough u can get an x1300xt witch should overclock better than the x1600.
Let us finish by the bundle which is identical for the two cards with driver CD , handbook, an adapter DVI/VGA and the usual video cables. GeCube proposes a composite cable, a cable S-Video as well as a component exit
Sapphire Radeon X1300 XT
Radeon X1300 XT GeCube being largely advanced vs the default specifications from ATI, we got Radeon X1300 XT signed Sapphire. Respecting the standards from the Canadian firm, the card, with the format PCI-Express bus 16x, proves to be relatively compact with modest cooling system . This last consists of an L-shaped metal radiator at the end of which was placed a fan. Although covering the chips memories, the radiator does not make contact with those and only the
heat generated by the graphics chip is then dissipated. With its blue PCB, the card does not require any additional power supply, and has at outputs a connector DVI and VGA DB-15. Sapphire of course did not forget about the video out. Equipped with 256 Mb of DDR2 memory , the card employs Hynix certified components with 2,5 NS and with operation frequencies of of 500 MHz for the graphics chip and 400 MHz for the memory. Sapphire thus makes small defference with the recommendations
from ATI and its X1300 XT a little more faster than the reference card..
Side bundle, Sapphire is satisfied to deliver an adapter DVI/VGA, a cable left component and a composite adapter for the video out. u will find in the box the driver CD as well as a handbook for the installation. On the other hand no game is delivered…
PowerColor Radeon X1650 Pro
Like GeCube, PowerColor adopts the last GPU medium from range ATI and consequently offers a card based on Radeon X1650 Pro. Physically the card, with the format PCI-Express bus 16x, is almost identical to the GeCube with a red PCB, a double connector DVI and a video out. Only the cooling system varie, and PowerColor proposes here a radiator a little thicker than the standard with very little elegant attachment unit . Four scrow in thr back of the graphics card…
But let us return to the fan which has a black color lays out in center of cooler. Once more, the memories chips are not cooled by the cooling unit. The good news that all Radeon X1650 Pro have relative quite cooling . Provided with 256 Mb of memory GDDR3, the card uses Hynix certified chips with 1,4 NS. Question frequencies, Radeon X1650 Pro PowerColor has a GPU with 600 MHz and its memory system at 700 MHz, this is exactly the frequencies recommended by ATI.
At exit, the card offers two connectors DVI as well as a video out. Deprived of functions VIVO or HDCP, the card is delivered with few accessories. we find in the box the driver CD , a handbook, an adapter DVI/VGA and a composite adapter for the video out. There is thus no game ,we found onlt the generique Cyberlink software .
HIS Radeon X1650 Pro IceQ
With the format doubles slot, the card adopts a cooling system of type VGA Silencer signed Arctic Cooling. It is about large aluminum radiator, partly covered the hole card equipped with a fan which was made for quite operation. HIS announces on this card a noise under operation lower than 20 dB .when u power the system you will be able to note the silence of the card and also benefit from the bleu light . the device is not equipped with heart coppers, as it
is generally use, it does not cover either the chips memories. Those however are equipped with small metal radiators, which have a rather decorative design. With 256 Mn of memory GDDR3, the card which we got used Infineon certified chips with 1,4 NS. Let us specify from the start that HIS declines its Radeon X1650 Pro IceQ in several versions: with with choice 128, 256 or 512 Mb of memory type DDR2 or GDDR3. If HIS has respected the memory frequency with 700 MHz it raised
the gpu to 625 MHz, against the 600 MHz normally recommended by ATI.
Graphics card HIS Radeon X1650 Pro IceQ
Provided with two ports DVI, the card also offers a video out and it is satisfied with the power supply provided by the pci-Express bus. Side bundle, HIS delivers two adapters DVI/VGA, a cable S-Video, an adapter for the component exit, a composite adapter, as well as a square perforated to position in front of the card radiator. Accompanied by driver CD , the card also propose a handbook and CD containing the game Dungeon Sits in complete version
Leadtek WinFast PX7300 GT TDH
This comparative is for us the occasion to return on GeForce 7300 GT from NVIDIA, by using this time the signed card from Leadtek. Without much originality, the card is presented at the format PCI-Express Bus and have 256 Mb of memory DDR2. Leadtek retained here chips signed Hynix and certified to 2,5 NS. System cooling from Leadtek made in the effectiveness, but as in the minimalism , its basic cooling system like on GeForce FX. The graphics processor is thus simply
surmounted by a metal circular radiator in the center of which a fan. there is no heat sink on the memory chips. With regard to the operation frequencies , Leadtek has some freedoms and the GPU of the card worked at 400 MHz when the memory at 350 MHz. By default, NVIDIA recommend 350 MHz for the graphics chip and 333 MHz for the memory. With a connector DVI andVGA DB15, the card also has a video out.
Graphics card Leadtek WinFast PX7300 GT TDH
Rather quiet, WinFast PX7300 GT TDH is accompanied by the handbooks and other friver CD . In premium, Leadtek delivers an adapter DVI/VGA as well as a cable for the output component and the S-Video (out). It will be necessary however to note that leadtek do not provide any game!
MSI GeForce 7600 GS: NX7600GS-T 2d256EH
Parallel to its GeForce 7600 GT, manufacturer MSI proposes a more modest card containing processor GeForce 7600 GS. Quiet, this card is characterized first of all by its red PCB and its completely passive cooling system . MSI is satisfied here with a simple radiator covering the graphics chip. Deprived from fan, the card does not need either an additional power supply. Equipped with a connector SLI, the NX7600GS-T 2d256EH is accompanied by 256 MB of video memory, components DDR2 signed Hynix and
validated to 2,5 NS. for operation Frequencies , MSI respects the standards from NVIDIA with 400 MHz for the graphics chip and 400 MHz in the memory.in any case witchsuch passsive cooling the card could not go far.
GeForce 7600 GS from MSI: Finally, the card offers two ports DVI and a video connector. Question bundle, we finds the traditional ones with an adapter DVI/VGA, a video cable, driver CD and the instruction manual. MSI delivers in premium the game Brothers In Arms: Road To Hill 30 in complete version.
MSI NX7600 GT Diamond Plus Edition
In addition to all the cards already described previously, this test enables us to discover GeForce 7600 GT from MSI in version Diamond Plus. It is true that the GeForce 7600 GT does not play in the same category as GeForce 7300 and other Radeon X1300, but that to precisely allow us to have in our comparative performances a Master standard. recently, this new top-end-range edition GeForce 7600 GT is characterized by its interface HDMI. Once unpacked, the card, with the format
PCI-Express 16x, has what to surprise because the manufacturer moves away rather openly from the NVIDIA design reference . This new model adopts a black PCB which appears much longer than that of usual GeForce 7600. The card from MSI measures 20,5 centimetres against 17,5 centimetres for the traditional GeForce 7600 GT . The NX7600 GT Diamond come on one new cooling system which consists of a simple metal radiator provided in its center with a fan. Rather thick,
the device proves to be relatively quiet and covers not only the graphics processor, but also the memories chips . With 256 MB of memory GDDR3, the card uses components signed Infineon and certified to 1,4 NS. the memory frequency is 700 MHz whereas the graphics chip operates at 560 MHz, MSI respected the specifications by NVIDIA. For the management of HDMI interface , the manufacturer has recourse to a circuit Silicon Image, Sil 1930. Compatible HDCP, the card are also provided with CryptoROM,
located not far from the GPU and which contains the keys necessary to protocol HDCP. Not requiring any additional power , the card has a strip SLI and a component Philips SAA7115HL which manages the functions of analog video .
Graphics card MSI NX7600 WP Diamond Plus Edition: HDMI and HDCP on board!
The card offers a connector DVI , HDMI and a connector minicomputer-DIN for the video inputs/outputs. . Concerning the bundle, MSI delivers several accessories with a cable (component out, input S-Video, composite input and output S-Video), a cable HDMI , a cable S-Video and a composite cable. we finds also an adapter DVI/VGA which will make possible to connect to the card in old monitor, two cables to recover the sound coming from your card or your motherboard
in order to inject it into the flow transported by cable HDMI.too bad that MSI does not deliver adapters HDMI/DVI like Asus for example it is impossible to connect two flat- screens DVI to the card… It will imperatively necessary to have of a screen HDMI and a screen DVI to activate the display with two screens, or then to buy an adapter separately. In addition the essential books, the box contains driver CD , Power2Go and PowerProducer from Cyberlink. MSI delivers the game Heroes
Of Might And Magic V in complete version in DVD.
To test the performances of all our small world, we had used the configuration whose detail appears below:
Motherboard Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe,
Processor AMD Athlon 64 3800+,
2x512 MB Corsair TwinX PC3200XL,
Hard disk Western DIGITAL Raptor 36 G
The system turned under Windows XP Professionnel Service Pack 2 and used the last driver available to the date of the test. we used NVIDIA ForceWare 91.47 and the CATALYST 6.9 for ATI cards . Side resolutions we preserve our standard protocol on the basis of 1024x768, the 800x600 is not existing anymore on the majority of lcd screens. At NVIDIA, we activate higher Quality mode whereas at ATI we activate High Quality AF.
3DMark 06
One starts with 3DMark 06 where we notes from the start the similarity of the results between Radeon X1600 XT and Radeon X1650 Pro. If our three cards based on X1650 Pro are close, the GeCube model is completely the leader, whereas here the GeForce 7600 GS show very modest result. In 1600x1200, Radeon X1650 Pro is 14% more powerful. Side X1300,the X1300 XT show pretty good result it shows 44% faster performance than X1300 Pro. It should be said that new X1300 XT is only one Radeon X1600
Pro ! Lastly, Radeon X1300 XT from GeCube is well overclocked this why it equalizes the Radeon X1650 Pro .
FAR CRY
For Far Cry, tested here in version 1.33 without activation of HDR, the card fastest here remain the GeForce 7600 gt from MSI, followed by GeForce 7600 always signed GS from MSI. Come then Radeon X1650 Pro with model HIS which displays slightly higher performances thanks to its a few additional MHz . New Radeon X1300 XT from Sapphire equalizes the GeForce 7300 GT here whereas the card signed X1300 XT GeCube is with equality with Radeon X1650 Pro.
Splinter Concealment Theory Chaos - v1.05
Here GeForce 7600 GT is largely at the head whereas GeForce 7600 GS is shown as powerful as Radeon X1650 Pro. In 1600x1200, our three cards based on Radeon X1650 Pro are with equality, whereas X1300 XT from GeCube is practically on the same level. Radeon X1300 XT from Sapphire is equivalent once again to GeForce 7300 GT from Leadtek and there is definitely
nothing commun between Radeon X1300 from Sapphire and this one from GeCube, this last is 21% faster.
F.E.A.R. v1.07
Under F.E.A.R., GeForce 7600 GT remains largely at the head whereas it little brother GeForce 7600 GS finishes second. Here GeForce 7600 GS from MSI is 25% faster than Radeon X1650 Pro. Our three X1650 Pro are with equality with an advantage not exceeding an image per second for X1600 XT and X1300 XT from GeCube. Sapphire X1300 XT made without surprise an equality game play with GeForce 7300 gt whereas X1300 Pro and GeForce 7300 GS are completely failing.
Quake 4 v1.2
Good news! Under Quake 4 it is possible to play with good conditions and this same in 1600x1200! Indeed, our Radeon X1650 Pro display a good performance with an average of 60 images per second "fps". we will note besides that X1650 Pro display here performances higher than GeForce 7600 GS, this last being less powerful than Radeon X1300 XT! Blow, if GeForce
7300 gt does better than Radeon X1300 Pro, it is far behind X1300 XT. Here the last chip from ATI in the version proposed by Sapphire is 41% faster than GeForce 7300 gt.
Half-Life 2 Lost Coast -
Half-Life 2 Lost Coast - FSAA 4x & Aniso 8x
With or without antialiasing, the hierarchy of our cards remains identical under Half-Life 2 Lost Coast. GeForce 7600, GS or gt, preserve an advantage over ATI cards , whereas our Radeon X1650 Pro are with equality once again. X1300 XT from GeCube makes almost as well as Radeon X1650 Pro, whereas Leadtek GeForce 7300 gt is with equality with Sapphire Radeon X1300 XT .
Doom 3 - v1.3
Not great surprise under Doom 3 where GeForce 7600 remain at the head. The model 7600 GS is 15% faster than Radeon X1650 Pro, which is on the level of Radeon X1600 XT at least in the 1600x1200 resolution GeForce 7300 gt show here also performances slightly higher than the Sapphire Radeon X1300 XT . This last being 57% more powerful than our reference Radeon X1300 Pro . Let us announce in addition that Radeon X1300 XT from GeCube is once more on the level
of Radeon X1650 Pro.
Doom 3 - FSAA 4x
One continues with Doom 3 but this time by activating antialiasing and this directly in the game. If GeForce 7600 gt remains largely at the head, the surprise comes from GeForce 7600 GS which loses and finishes behind Radeon X1650 Pro! In 1280x1024, Radeon X1650 Pro from GeCube is thus 33% faster than GeForce 7600 GS. On its side, GeForce 7300 gt is with equality with Radeon X1300 XT from Sapphire.
Cal Of Duty 2 - v1.3
Let us finish per Call Of Duty 2 :-). As alwais our GeForce 7600 GT is the leader.all Radeon X1650 Pro are the same are well placed since they remain faster than GeForce 7600 GS from MSI. Thus, in 1280x1024, HIS Radeon X1650 Pro is 21% faster than GeForce 7600 GS. of course Radeon X1300 XT from GeCube finishes on the same level as our Radeon X1650 Pro, whereas in the other hand GeForce 7300 gt is in lost vs Radeon X1300 XT from Sapphire.
Conclusion
Arrived at the end of this comparative, it is necessary for us once again to note:that the graphic solutions of middle range which are signed ATI or NVIDIA, already show their limits to play game with confortable frame rate. Some could reproach us besides for not having tested the various cards in 800x600, but it should well be realized that the majority of the lcd- screens are models 17 inches today which the native resolution is the 1280x1024… Difficult consequently to recommend the
graphic solutions whose price is lower than the hundred euros, Radeon X1300 XT and other GeForce 7300 gt being generally insufficient to play game like Splinter Cell or F.E.A.R. On the other hand there are good surprises and our various cards, including the above-named ones, have showed good result in Quake 4 and other Doom 3! GeForce 7600 gt at least offers performances 25% higher than thr Radeon X1650 Pro… We are not speaking about the Diamond Plus MSI 7600 gt which price
is largely higher than the average due to the HDCP/HDMI !
Technically the new ATI chips do not have strictly anything new to offer, Canadian being simply satisfied to reposition its chips according to the NVIDIA offer . Thus Radeon X1300 XT proves to be more or less than one Radeon X1600 Pro while Radeon X1650 Pro is an analog for the Radeon X1600 XT! . Difficult to find itself there between X1300, X1300 Pro, X1300 XT, X1600 Pro, X1600 XT, X1650 Pro! and it became more difficult
as the partners of ATI can change the default frequencies. Thus, Radeon X1300 XT from GeCube displays a final performances close to the Radeon X1650 Pro, this card was massively overclocked ! Difficult to qualify this Radeon X1300 XT as an x1300xt card …
for a little more expensive than Radeon X1650 Pro, GeForce 7600 GS makes general better performance except when the functions of antialiasing are activated! In the same way, GeForce 7300 gt is regularly
with equality with Radeon X1300 XT… the final choice will be done on the availability and the price range, ATI have on this last a small advantage from 5 to 10 euros over the nvidia offer.
