On 12 October, NVIDIA released two new GPU for the market for the discrete video card : GT216 and GT218, which possess 48 and 16 stream processors respectively and are aimed at the price segment below $100. Both chips are produced with the use of 40 nm technological process and support DirectX 10.1. Only later will appear a third chip GT215, with 96 stream processors and 128- bit memory , with GDDR- 5 supports.
It will be released two versions geForce GT 240 with 1 Gb video memory DDR- 3 1800 MHZ DDR and with 512 mb video memory GDDR- 5 3600 MHz QDR. In both cases, the clock frequency will be 550/1340 MHz for the core and shader domain respectively. Here is the result of both versions in 3DMark 2006 and 3DMark vantage. Furthermore, version with 512 mb GDDR- 5 was overclocked to 650/1590 MHz for the core and shader domains respectively.
In 3DMark vantage, the new card occurs on the productivity between GeForce 9800 GT and GeForce GTS 250 Green. Version with 1 Gb DDR- 3 is slower than GeForce 9800 GT, and overclock allow to exceed both GeForce GTS 250 Green and Radeon HD 4850.
In 3DMark 2006, with the screen resolution 1280x1024. The versions GeForce GT 240 GDDR- 5 is faster than Enforce 9600 GT Green while the DDR- 3 version is slower . Even with overclock, delay from GeForce 9800 GT and Radeon HD 4850 is about 10%.
With an increase in the resolution to 1920x1200 the situation is aggravated. Both versions geForce GT 240 occur weaker than GeForce 9600 GT green, and overclock allow to only reach the level of this video card. Related Products :
