Gigabyte company demonstrated the prototype of a motherboard with four ports SATA-600 during June, but the stage of series production was detained due to the defect in Marvell controller . Although the controller problems were connected with parallel ATA support .
Prior to the end of this year, the company plans to release the motherboard P55A-UD4, which will obtain USB 3.0 and SATA-600 support. Which is characteristic, in contrast to asus and AsRock, gigabyte will obtain the integrated controller SATA-600, but not the separate expansion card.
The quantity of SATA-600 ports are limited to two, since this cheaper than the realization of four ports ( the second controller Marvell will be required ).
Two ports USB 3.0 on the rear panel can be recognized by the dark-blue color. Let us recall that the USB 3.0 standard not only ensures the information transmission at the higher speed, but also characterized by higher strength : this allows to power external disks directly from the USB port. USB 3.0 Support is ensured by NEC controller . Related Products :
