As it was expected, on 18 November the official announcement of the 3d- accelerator ATI radeon HD 5970 take place. AMD company graphic division granted a series of slides, which clearly demonstrate the special feature and possibility of the new model. With directX 11 support this card personifies all latest achievements of AMD company . This graphic accelerator is based on two GPU cypress, each of which contains 1600 stream processors, 80 textural blocks (TMU) and 32 blocks scanning operations (ROP). The GDDR5 memory is capable of ensuring capacity to 256 GB/s. Official data confirmed the assumed technical characteristics . The regular frequency, at which function two graphic processors, is 725 MHz. The card is equipped with 2 GB GDDR5 memory, which operates at  4000 MHz frequency. Even with the regular frequencies the GPU possibilities are sufficient in order to show computational power record in terms of its value, equal to 4,64 teraflops. According to specifications, the energy consumption of video card at the load moments and idle time is 294 and 42 W respectively. AMD openly declares that the Radeon HD 5970 has immense space for overclock. Using the possibilities of ATI overdrive software, it is possible at the driver  level to reach the core and memory frequencies 1000 and 6000 MHz respectively. In other words, this is equivalent of 30% increase on the core and 50% increase on the memory. In order to reach this productivity level  , AMD equipped the printed-circuit board by components with exceptional quality. In the power diagram is used digital stabilizers SHIM and independent volterra controllers  . It control the voltage levels and if necessary update them in the real time regime . Cooling system contains vaporizing chamber in the base, which covers the majority of video card components , including both graphic processors and power elements . This construction is capable of removing up to 400 W of heat directly to the aluminum radiator.  The memory modules are cooled by the plate, located on the reverse video card side . Thus, AMD engineers changed the cooling concept  in comparison with r700 and R680, in which each GPU was its own radiator. Graphic accelerator supports DirectX 11 and technology ATI eyefinity, which allow to connect up to three monitors with the maximum resolution 2560 X 1600 pixels.
