Polish associates got the engineering model of 32-nm six-core processor Intel core i9 : gulftown.
For convenience in comparison were used the result of reduced clock frequency from the regular value 3,07 GHz to 2,8 GHz (at this frequency worked Intel core i5, Core i7, Core 2 Quad and AMD phenom II X4).
The work of processors was compared in synthetic tests, standard tasks (coding video, files compression , etc) and games.
In short, in the majority of case Intel core i9 easily passed its rivals. In some tests, it was compared with most rapid of them and only in several tests it was slower. For example, in the game left 4 Dead most rapid proved to be the processor core i5, and in adobe photoshop program as leader proved to be Core i7.
Concerning energy consumption, constant leader in the tests occurred AMD phenom II X4. The required power Of Intel core i9 in the idle time regime proved to be equal to 126 W, during HD- video reproduction it grew to 149 W, and with the peak load it reached 226 W. Such attractive indices explain that the processor is prepared according to the 32 nm standards.
It was possible to verify the overclocking potential of this copy with air cooling the processor stably operated at the frequency 4,321 GHz with 1,35 v.
