The first reference about the HDD momentus thin talk, that Seagate company intends to present those disk on January exhibition CES 2010, which traditionally gives much attention to mobile technologies.
The official announcement of HDD series momentus thin took place yesterday, but deliveries will begin only during January 2010. According to the data of Seagate companies , now all supplied for the market netbook 90% are equipped with standard size HDD 2.5 inches with 9.5 mm thickness, since the solid-state disk and standard size 1.8 inches SSD is too expensive. The products series momentus thin will allow to create thinner netbook and notebooks, since the case thickness of these disks does not exceed 7 mm.

There are only two HDD models with 160 and 250 Gb volume respectively. They are equipped with 8 mb buffer, the rotation speed is equal to 5400 rp/min SATA-300 interface supports the technology NCQ. Possibly, in the future Seagate momentus thin will be enlarged due to the more capacious disk, and also models with the rotation frequency 7200 rp/min.
