The first gulftown processor will be called core i 7 -980X and work at the default frequency 3.33 GHz. We already reported about the overclocking potential of these processors , with the aid of engineering models stepping A0, working at the frequency 2.4 GHz under liquid nitrogen these engineering models are overclocked to the frequencies of approximately 6.4 GHz. We should note that gulftown processors passed tests  confidently only at the frequency of 5.9 GHz. Similar results reached recently one of the xtremeSystems forum participants , which had the engineering model gulftown previous stepping A0, but already working at the default frequency 3.07 GHz. Max screen shot stable frequency is 6084 MHz with the voltage  more than 1.86 v. Processor preserved stability at the frequency below 6.0 GHz, but it was possible to overclock the north bridge to impressive 4618 MHz: The existing processors models gulftown are distant according to their characteristics from the series - the announcement Of core i 7 -980X Extreme edition is planned on March 2010.
