Today  HITACHI- LG company not only presented the hybrid drive hyDrive, but also described about its future version. Present device work only with DVD or CD disk, it is limited to solid-state disk with 32 or 64 Gb volume, and case thickness equal to 12,7 mm. This limits the application sphere of first generation hyDrive; therefore, hybrid drive in this form will be installed only in desktop solutions, nettop and other products, where the form factor of the optical drive is not so important. Asus company,   however, intends to use HyDrive first generation in its computers eee top, and hybrid drive second generation: Asus N61DA. HyDrive first generation will be equipped with  the SATA-300 interface, on sale along OEM- channels it will enter during August or September. It is assumed that the price of base version hyDrive will be approximately equal to $200.  It is expected that during March 2011 hyDrive will get a more compact case with thickness not more 9,5 mm. Furthermore, the capacity of solid-state disk must grow to 256 Gb, but interface can be replaced by SATA-600. Plane-table computers and netbook, in the opinion of producer, can use HyDrive for savings place. Next year will appear the version Of hyDrive, capable of working with blu-ray disks.
