Sony company reported that in collaboration with university scientists it developed a blue-violet laser with 405 nm wavelength, which issue pulses with the power of 100 W with the duration of 3 picoseconds with 1 GHz frequency. In sony laboratories with the aid of this laser it was possible to apply to the surface of optical disk with 300 nm diameter with a step of 3 m..  According to the communications of Japanese MEDIA, the development of this laser allows to create optical disks, capable of placing 20 times more information than the present blu-ray disks.
