The research group of quantum institute opticians Max Planck (Germany) successfully copied the quantum state of photon to rubidium atom, and read it after a certain time. Previously scientists did not succeed in reaching similar result, since the action of photons on the purposeful atom was too weak.
The representatives of Max Planck institute placed the atom between the mirrors of optical resonator, and then the pulses of weak laser for the generation of single photons were used. The mirrors of resonator several times reflected the obtained photons, and they reached rubidium atom by those intensified to such an extent, that occurred the fixation of their quantum state on the atom.
The storage information time could be read for about 180 microseconds, which is compared with the results with the use of atoms interaction method. However, new method does not lead to the destruction of quantum atom- source state, and in the case of error the copying operation can be repeated. Over the long term this technology can serve for creating the components of quantum future computers . Related Products :
