AMD started the commercial deliveries of first processors based on new core Bulldozer. Series production of the world's first 16-core x86-compatible processors, known under Interlagos , began in August.
New AMD processors are compatible with existing AMD Opteron 6100 platform and associated infrastructure. A considerable part of initial delivery are for supercomputers. Compatibility of the new processors with previously released models simplifies upgrades, allowing to increase the number of cores and system performance.
