Already on 15 November , Intel will present the enthusiasts processors , known as Sandy Bridge-E. These microprocessors will demonstrate the performance gains from 12% to 65% compared with the solutions already on the market.
According to a certain Intel document, CPU Core i7-3960X (six cores, 3.30 GHz, 15 MB cache in the third level), the forthcoming high end chip for LGA 2011 platform is much faster than its predecessor Core i7-990X (six cores, 3.46 GHz, 12 MB cache). Approximate comparison is as follows (indicated by the advantage of Core i7-3960X as a percentage):
- 13% in Cinebench 1.5;
- 12% in POV-Ray 3.7;
- 36% in 3DMark 11 (physic" test);
- 15% in ProShow Gold 4.5;
- 34% in SPECint_rate base 2006;
- 65% in SPECfp_rate base 2006;
- 111% in Sandra 2011B/Multi-Media FP;
- 92% in Sandra 2011B/Memory Bandwidth FP.
According to the results of synthetic benchmarks it is difficult to judge the real performance boost, but some of the results look impressive.
