At the seventh annual Technical Forum and Exhibition AMD Fusion 11 in Taipei, AMD disclosed some details about the graphic accelerators Radeon HD 7000 , and more specifically - the architecture of Next Generation Core (NGC), which will replace older models in VLIW4 segment (Radeon HD 7900) .
Computing power next-generation features a new set of instructions, failure to approach VLIW, the presence of vector unit in conjunction with scalar coprocessor, as well as distributed programmable sequencer. Each computing unit is capable of simultaneously processing commands from the four different cores.
The detailed structure of the computing unit is shown on the slide:
The scalable architecture allows to share stream processor and cache memory in the second level between the different number of graphical blocks. Thus, the configuration can be customized to a particular device, tablet, laptop, one-piece PC gaming system, workstation, supercomputer.
Vice president and general manager, AMD Graphics Products Branch, Matt Skinner showed a laptop with a 28-nanometer GPU new generation. According to him, the supply of mobile solutions will begin later this year, and the graphics for desktop will appear in the second quarter 2012. Related Products :
