At the end of this week we came to a sad news. Dennis Ritchie, the man who created the C programming language and participated in the development of UNIX passed away at the age of 70 years.
Ritchie was born in Bronxville, New York, graduated from Harvard with a degree in physics and mathematics. His illustrious career began in 1967 when the future author of C began working at Bell Labs. A year later, Ritchie received his doctorate in physics and mathematics at Harvard University, and in 1969 he participated in the development of UNIX operating system, along with Ken Thompson, Brian Kerniganom and other colleagues at Bell Labs. Around this time Ritchie began laying the basis for what eventually turned in a programming language C. The book Programming Language C, published in 1978 in collaboration with Brian Kerniganom, being a description of the standard and reference guide for language, has become a reference for many developers. In subsequent years, Ritchie continued to work in the field of operating systems and programming languages.
Ritchie contribution in computer technology has been awarded at 1983 Turing Award, which can be compared only with the Nobel Prize. Related Products :
