Manufacturers of silicon wafers with memory chips, Powerchip Technology and ProMOS Technologies companies, are negotiating a possible sale of its factories to improve the financial situation. As potential buyers : Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC), Globalfoundries, and Vanguard International Semiconductor (VIS).
Globalfoundries is the latest contender for the purchase of factories put up for sale. TSMC, UMC and VIS for the factory of 300-mm plates offer price of $ 297 million
Powerchip has three factories located in the Hsinchu Science Park (HSP) in northern Taiwan. Debt liabilities to creditors of the company are measured at 46 billion new Taiwan dollars. ProMOS factory located in the central part of the island, in a direct Taichung municipality. The company owes 67 billion Taiwan dollars, of which 57 billion are loans to banks.
