Steve Scott , NVIDIA Tesla, technical manager, in an interview with CNET agency expressed its opinion on the development of Intel calculations accelerator Knights Corner.
Knights Corner, in a sense, is the successor of concept Larrabee and will be the first commercial embodiment of the architecture of Many Integrated Core (MIC), which involves the creation of a processor with more cores and improved scalability.
Meanwhile, Mr. Scott believes that the processor architecture RISC, used by NVIDIA, is much better suited to faster computing . Intel, which initially tried to break in HPC segment by creating a super-x86-compatible processor Xeon, realized its mistake and move in the right direction by improving MIC architecture . However, Intel still lags behind NVIDIA according to said Scott. Related Products :
