Currently, Samsung is one of the largest manufacturers of flash memory chips and, as reported Reuters agency, the South Korean company plans to consolidate its position in this segment, spending about $ 4 billion to build factories in China. The peak popularity of smart phones and tablet PCs, as well as intensive SSDs use, NAND chip production make the most profitable area in the semiconductor industry. According to analysts DRAMeXchange, the total income from sales of flash memory in 2012 will be $ 26 billion.
If approved by the authorities, this factory will be the second industrial facility for Samsung, which is located outside of South Korea. The factory will initially produce 20 nm technology.
Samsung already applied for the government of South Korea in order to permit the deployment of new production base. The republic's authorities, fearing the leakage of valuable technology, carefully study the expansion of factory candidates.
