IDC and Gartner analysts published new information about last quarter PC market .
The second half of last year, was a difficult period for HP. In the fourth quarter PC sales fell by 16% over the same period last year. However, this did not prevent HP to hold first place in the ranking of computers manufacturers up to 2011. According to IDC, the company managed to realize 15.1 million computers. In second place we have Lenovo, which has sold 13 million computers, and increased its sales by 23% (Gartner) or 37% (IDC) compared to the fourth quarter last year.
Dell got the third place with 12 million computers sold, but compared to the fourth quarter last year, an increase of 8%. Acer in comparison to last year lost 8% of sales volume, but remained in fourth place with 9.7 million computers sold. Asus has managed to increase sales by 26%, reaching 6.2 million units. Progress was observed in all regions. In the fourth quarter, according to IDC, all producers managed to ship 92 million PC - 0.2% less than in the corresponding period last year. Negative factors affecting the computers sales are well known: economic instability in certain regions of the world , shortage of drives after flooding in Thailand and in the case of HP is the transition period when changing direction and choice of strategy for further development.
