The American company Tilera, known for its work on the 100-core processors, has released a solution for cloud servers, called Tile-Gx36. The processor has 36 cores, and are said to offer greater efficiency in comparison with the x86-compatible chips.
Presented processors are designed for use in servers that handle a large number of short transactions. Tile-Gh36 models operate at a frequency of 1.2 GHz and consumes about 24 watts of power while the processor is compatible with Linux operating systems and supports 64-bit instruction sets. Height server 2U, based on eight processors Tile-Gx36, consumes only 400 watts and can handle more transactions per time unit , rather than four-processor servers based on x86-compatible solutions.
Tilera previously released CPUs with 64 core, but in the new generation , engineers have reduced the level of parallelism, increased cache size and raised the clock speed.
At the moment, Tilera processors is ready to work with application Apache, MySQL, Memcache, and about 2,000 other applications. Related Products :
