British holding company ARM has announced an increase in net profit for the final quarter 2011 due to strong demand for the development of company's microprocessors, which are used in most smart phones released today and Tablet PCs.
According to the report, the net profit for the fourth quarter ARM rose from 11% to 33.1 million pounds (about 52 million U.S. dollars), while during the same period a year before the company received 29.7 million pounds. In the fourth quarter 2010, revenue totaled 113.9 ARM million pounds.
It should be noted that ARM also increased the number of licenses issued for the production of processors with the same architecture, as well as a significant increase in the number of chips set. Thus, according to the previous year, the number of solutions shipped with ARM architecture has grown by 80%, while the overall market growth of semiconductor products amounted to only 5%.
