IDC Experts summed up the 2011 microprocessor market, whose volume in the fourth quarter reached 10.09 billion dollars, up 1.8% over the third quarter and 14.2% greater than that recorded on the same period in 2010. The income of microprocessors producers in 2011 grew by 13.2% and exceeded 41 billion dollars.
The microprocessors market volume in quantitative terms increased by only 3.6%. According to analysts estimates, the number of assigned processors for mobile PCs grew by 3.9% in the desktop segment, the figure was 2.7%, while the server market received a 9% higher x86-compatible processors, rather than in 2010. The average cost of semiconductor device has reached the highest value since 2007.
Dividing the market has changed slightly between manufacturers: Intel controls 80.1%, but in 2010 this figure was 80.7%, the proportion of AMD rose from 0.7% to 19.7%, VIA lost 0.1%, ending 2011 with a 0.2% market share.
