POSTER:computer news || TOP PROCESSORS FOR LGA 2011 REMAIN SIX CORE
DATE:2013-03-31
Intel processors for the LGA 2011 platform generation Ivy Bridge (E / EP) is expected in the form of 12-core silicon. For the server and workstation market company uses the full potential of the new platform in twelve processing cores on a single chip, while the desktop processor line class Extreme part of the core will be disabled. It was expected that the new Core i7 processors for the LGA 2011 will be without 10-core, at least 8-core.
Previous processors - generation Sandy Bridge - brought in server segment eight cores, while for the desktop market Intel has left on chip Core i7 LGA 2011 six cores.
The heat of processor - model Core i7-4960X - remain at 130W. Previous top model - Core i7-3970X - consume a maximum of 150 watts. The performance gain of Extreme-generation processors from Intel Sandy Bridge generation to Intel Ivy Bridge will be very modest. Clock frequency in Boost mode will not change, and the frequency in normal mode will increase by only 100 MHz. Model Core i7-3970X, for example, runs at 3.5 GHz, and the new high end model Core i7-4960X - will run at 3.6 GHz. Similarly to the other two models - Core i7-4930K and Core i7-4820K, each of them will be only 100 MHz outperform its predecessor.
